Ryan Moves For “Appropriate Sanctions” Against Hillary Clinton–47ih.,b43
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton thought when FBI Director James Comey announced Tuesday that the FBI would not recommend an indictment to the Department of Justice that her private email server troubles were behind her and she could move on.
She was very wrong.
Thursday morning, House Speaker Paul Ryan Thursday formally requested that the presumptive Democrat presidential nominee be denied classified information briefings, which are given to both nominees, because the FBI labeled her as “careless,” The Hill reported.
Ryan sent a letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper requesting that Clinton not receive the briefings, or, should the CIA decide to give her the briefings, that Clapper explain exactly why he thinks that is a good idea.
“As a former vice presidential nominee, I am keenly aware that Secretary Clinton is set to begin receiving classified intelligence briefings after the Democratic National Convention,” Ryan wrote. “Given the FBI’s findings, denying Secretary Clinton access to classified information certainly constitutes appropriate sanctions.”
Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn and Sen. Cory Gardner introduced the bill, explaining that it was appropriate given how Clinton had handled classified material in the past.
“When individuals mishandle our country’s most sensitive information they jeopardize national security and shouldn’t be trusted with such an important responsibility,” Cornyn explained in a statement.
“If the FBI won’t recommend action based on its findings, Congress will. At the very least, Secretary Clinton should not have access to classified information and our bill makes sure of it,” Gardner added in a separate statement.
Republicans have seized on Comey’s comments that “those individuals (ones who are careless with national security) are often subject to security or administrative sanctions,” as justification for denying Clinton access to classified materials.
Comey was set to testify before Congress Thursday and was likely to be peppered with questions as to why the FBI did not charge Clinton even though she broke the law.
It is good to see congressional Republicans taking national security seriously and doing everything they can to try to stop Clinton from damaging this country more than she already has.
Chaffetz Demands FBI Charge Hillary With Shocking New Crime
While presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton may have escaped criminal charges in the FBI investigation into her mishandling of classified government material on a unsecured private email server, she may still face charges for the crime of lying about it.
To be more precise, there is a good chance that the FBI will open up a new investigation into whether Clinton committed perjury by both lying under oath about her private email server setup during her Benghazi Select Committee testimony and falsely signing a sworn court declaration and standard exit form denoting that she had turned over all of her work-related emails when she clearly had not done so.
According to Breitbart, House Oversight Committee chair Jason Chaffetz asked FBI Director James Comey during his testimony about the investigation Thursday morning whether the agency had looked into her lying under oath.
Comey replied that they had not, but that they would do so if Congress presented a specific referral for such an investigation.
With a quick laugh, Chaffetz responded, “You’ll have one” within a few hours of the hearing’s conclusion.
As stated before, Hillary Clinton lied under oath to Congress during the Benghazi hearing by stating unequivocally that she had turned over all work-related emails, that nothing on her server had been marked classified, and that her attorneys had painstakingly reviewed each and every single email contained on the private server.
Comey’s testimony, as well as his statement delivered Tuesday detailing the findings of the investigation, has proven that all three of those assertions made by Clinton under oath were at best carefully worded and misleading falsehoods, and at worst outright lies.
It seems likely that Hillary Clinton lied under oath and committed the federal felony offense of perjury, for which she should be prosecuted criminally.
